Patios and outdoor entertaining areas are where Brisbane families spend a good chunk of their time, and they show it — food and drink spills, grease from the barbecue, mould creeping in from the edges, and general foot traffic grime. We clean covered and uncovered patios across Brisbane daily, working with everything from tiled surfaces and stamped concrete through to natural stone and exposed aggregate. A common mistake we see is homeowners hiring someone who blasts a tiled patio at full pressure and cracks grout lines or lifts tile edges — we use appropriate pressure settings and fan tips that clean effectively without causing that damage. For covered patios, we also clean the underside of the roofline, posts, and any ceiling fans or downlights that have copped mould and cobwebs.

What's Included
Our patio pressure cleaning covers the full floor area plus any associated steps, edges, and retaining walls within the patio space. We pre-treat with sodium hypochlorite for mould and algae, and use a separate degreaser around barbecue areas where grease has soaked into the surface. Covered patio structures — posts, beams, roofline undersides, and fascia — are cleaned as part of the service using a soft wash method at lower pressure to protect painted or powder-coated finishes. We move outdoor furniture where possible and replace it once the surface is dry. All work is covered by our $20M public liability insurance.
Surfaces We Clean
Brisbane patios come in a wide variety of finishes and we handle them all — ceramic and porcelain tiles, natural stone tiles including travertine, sandstone, and slate, stamped concrete, exposed aggregate, plain concrete, concrete pavers, clay pavers, and brick. We also clean the structural elements — timber posts, steel posts, Colorbond roofing undersides, and rendered block walls that form part of the patio area. Tiled surfaces need particular attention to grout condition before cleaning, and we always check for loose or drummy tiles that could be affected by pressure.
Our Method (Soft Wash / Pressure Wash)
We start by moving furniture, rugs, and loose items to give us clear access to the full patio surface. The floor area is swept, then pre-treated with cleaning solution — sodium hypochlorite for organic growth, alkaline degreaser for barbecue grease zones. After the dwell period, we clean the floor using a surface cleaner for consistent coverage, detailing edges and corners with a hand lance at reduced pressure. Structural elements and the underside of the patio roof are soft washed separately. We rinse everything thoroughly and do a final walkthrough with you.
Why Brisbane Properties Need This
Outdoor living is a year-round affair in Brisbane, which means patios get used constantly and accumulate grime quickly. Covered patios trap humidity underneath, creating ideal conditions for mould to establish on the ceiling, posts, and floor surface. Uncovered patios take the full brunt of summer storms, which deposit organic debris and cause rapid algae growth in the warm, wet conditions that follow. The combination of barbecue grease, food spills, and organic growth makes patios increasingly slippery and unhygienic if not cleaned regularly. A properly cleaned patio is safer, more pleasant to use, and protects your investment in the outdoor space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you pressure clean a tiled patio without damaging the grout?
Yes — we adjust pressure settings and use fan tips that clean the tile and grout surface without blowing out or cracking grout lines. Before we start, we check for any areas where grout is already loose or deteriorating and let you know. Most modern grout handles pressure cleaning well when done at the right PSI with the correct technique.
Do you clean the underside of covered patios?
Absolutely. We soft wash patio ceilings, beams, posts, and fascia as part of the service. These areas collect mould, cobwebs, and insect nests that make the space feel dirty even when the floor is clean. We use low-pressure application with chemical treatment to clean painted and powder-coated surfaces safely.
How do you handle barbecue grease stains on a patio?
We use a commercial alkaline degreaser specifically designed to break down petroleum and animal fat-based grease. It is applied directly to the stained area, agitated with a brush, and left to dwell before pressure cleaning. Fresh grease stains come up very well. Older stains that have penetrated deep into porous concrete may lighten but can leave some residual marking.
Is patio pressure cleaning safe around outdoor furniture and plants?
We move furniture and pot plants before cleaning and replace them afterwards. Garden beds adjacent to the patio are protected from chemical runoff — our cleaning solutions are biodegradable, but we still take care to keep them off plants. We are careful around outdoor electrical points, lighting, and ceiling fans, using appropriate pressure and water management.
How long before I can use my patio after pressure cleaning?
You can generally walk on the patio within an hour of cleaning, and it will be fully dry within a few hours depending on the surface type and weather. If we have applied any post-clean treatment like an anti-mould solution, we will let you know the specific drying time. In Brisbane’s warm climate, drying times are usually quick.
