Pre-Storm Gutter Cleaning That Gets Your Brisbane Home Storm-Ready

Every pre-storm gutter clean includes:

• Full removal of leaves, twigs, seed pods, silt, mud and debris from all gutters and valley irons, by hand and with industrial vacuum equipment for the fine sediment
• A check of gutter brackets, pop rivets and silicone joins for rust, separation or failure, so you know about weak points before a storm finds them
• A roof-level check of valleys, flashings and gutter joins
• Rainwater tank inlet filters and first-flush diverters cleaned, if fitted
• Final inspection with photos showing clear gutters

We clean every gutter type found on Brisbane homes before storm season. That includes Colorbond and Zincalume Quad, Half Round on heritage homes and Queenslanders, OG (Old Gothic) on older brick properties, and the wide flat-back box gutters on modern builds. We also clean internal box gutters on commercial and strata buildings, valley gutters between roof planes, and concealed parapet gutters on shopfronts. If you already have gutter guard installed, we clean above and below it.

We start with a ground-level assessment of your roof and gutter system to plan safe access and spot any obvious problems. Next we remove all loose debris by hand and bag it. Then we use an industrial gutter vacuum to pull out the fine sediment and mud that hand removal misses. A clean gutter feeding a blocked downpipe will still overflow in a storm, so if a downpipe looks blocked or damaged, we’ll tell you and recommend a licensed plumber. We finish with a roof-level check of valleys, flashings and gutter joins, and look over brackets, rivets and silicone for corrosion or separation. Anything that needs attention is photographed and reported to you, so you can get it sorted before storm season rather than after a leak.

Brisbane’s storm season runs from November to March and brings intense downpours. Over the drier months, gutters slowly fill with eucalyptus leaves, mango seeds, poinciana pods, fig debris and fine silt. In a light shower, partly blocked gutters can still seem fine. Under a summer storm, that debris turns into a dam. Water overflows the front of the gutter and runs down your walls. It backs up into the fascia and roof line, or pours straight down beside your foundations. Blocked valley gutters are one of the leading causes of ceiling leaks during heavy rain. Timing matters. A regular gutter clean at any time of year protects your home. A pre-storm gutter clean in October or early November gets the system clear just before it has to handle the heaviest rain of the year. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year in Brisbane: once before storm season, and once in late autumn around May after the trees have dropped. Properties with big overhanging trees may need it more often.
